A mom’s words to me “I have lost all hope and don’t know what to do”…
Imagine living on the street with your four children and spouse, sleeping in a car until one day you were able to find a job working in fast food. Even though you both have a job now, all you can afford is a cheap motel in a really bad part of town because you are barely getting by. You and your spouse work different shifts so you can switch off taking care of the children. Your 6 month old baby needs diapers, your older kids need clothes, and everyone needs food. You feel at a loss; do you pay rent for the cheap motel room, buy much needed food or diapers?
This is where you and the Beacon of Hope come in.
This family above is our newest addition to the Beacon of Hope Program. As we begin to work with the family, we are focusing on the bigger problems to help them get on the right track. Right now only one parent is able to work, so the other parent can watch the children. Their vehicle is broke down and in the shop. They will never get ahead without your help.
The next steps for this family won’t be easy, but with your help we can do it. Let’s start with getting their vehicle fixed. This will allow them to get a job in a better location. Next let’s pay the deposit and first month’s rent on place to live so they can move their family out of the cheap motel, so the kids can have a backyard to play in and not a parking lot full of trash and cars. Next, we will work with them to get childcare assistance so the other parent can go to work and both parents will know their children are safe and sound in an environment that is nurturing. We will provide counseling and budgeting classes and walk with them though the transition so that they can take this hand-up and make the best of it.
We can’t do any of these things without your help. We need funds to help provide the things that will make a difference in their lives. I’m asking you to partner with us and help this family. Your donation to the Beacon of Hope will help this family directly.
These children deserve a chance, this family deserves a chance. I just need you to join me in giving HOPE to this family.

On Tuesday March 28th a severe Spring storm hit the Sachse. Wind “gusts” over 80mph ripped HUGE trees out of the ground, toppled structures and power lines were down everywhere. Unfortunately 5 Loaves did NOT escape unscathed, we found ourselves with no power for 4 days and the generators were unable to keep up with the power needed to cool our walk-in freezer and cooler. Not only were our clients affected in loosing food at their home, we lost over 40,000 pounds of food to the storm at the pantry. Now we have more clients then ever showing up needing help because of the devastation and we are try to replenish our supply to hand out.
How can you help?
- Organize a food drive to benefit 5 Loaves.
- Host a Facebook or IG fundraiser with the proceeds going back to 5 Loaves.
- Make a tax deductible donation.
- Volunteer at the pantry, either by yourself or get a group together and help give back with your time.
