Christmas for the Children

In November/December each year

Imagine spending Christmas with little food and no way of getting presents for your children. With the help of our generous donors like yourself and others, we will bring some Christmas cheer to those who otherwise would go without.

For Christmas 2023, we are helping to provide Christmas cheer for 518 local children! You can help too, by purchasing Walmart Gift Cards in $25 increments. Our goal is to collect 1,040 gift cards so that each child gets two cards for gifts! Gift Cards must be turned in no later than Friday December 8th.

Not able to make it by the store to pick up a gift card? No worries, you can make a donation on our website and designate it for Christmas For the Children. 

 This year when the children and families come to pick up their gifts and gift cards, there will be stations with different activities like a photobooth with Santa, crafts, and even hot chocolate and smores! We want to make sure the children and their families feel the spirit of Christmas and know they are loved.

Trunk or Treat

We are teaming up with Altrusa International of Garland to have an amazing Fall Festival on Saturday October 28 from 10am-2pm! This event will be held at North Pointe Church of Christ in their parking lot and Credit Union of Texas is bringing their food truck! There will be bounce houses, games, Trunk-or-Treat and so much more for the community to come out and enjoy!

North Texas Giving Day

We set our goal to raise $100,000, to kick off the capital to build the Beacon of Hope Center. Six of you saw the value in the mission and offered matching funds totaling $50,000! And 97 of you joined us on the 21st and donated via the NTxGD page.

We ended the evening having raised over $83,000!

Given that we raised $34,000 last year, we were feeling quite blessed by the support we had received. But God wasn’t done! Over the course of the following days, I received checks and donations toward NTxGD and the capital campaign that brought our total to $103,076!!!! Thanks to YOU, we exceeded our goal! God is good!

I sincerely want to say Thank you, to everyone that supported 5 Loaves, prayed for us, and encourages me to serve!

Back to School Supplies

Thanks to Methodist Richardson Medical Center, YOU, and our sponsors, we raised over $14,500 toward the Back to School BASH and also to purchase food to feed the out of school kids in our program through the summer! Additionally, many of you donated supplies and backpacks so we didn’t have to purchase them!

On a recent Saturday, we had 160 families come through our distribution line! That’s approximately 544 people in need of food, on that single day! There’s still time to help feed kids this summer with your donation.

That’s right, in combination with the online auction, registrations for Friday evening’s dinner, raffles and live auctions during Friday evening, and our fantastic sponsors, we raised just over $45,000 toward our current missions and programs!
